PRESENT PERFECT SIMPLE

Hello my dear students of 2º ESO:

In this post we are going to learn about the Present Perfect Simple in order to be able to do the activities 1, 2 and 3 of pages 152 and 153 of the Student's Book.

The most important aspects of this topic of grammar we have to keep in mind are:

1. Use:

The present perfect simple tense is used to describe something that happened in the past, but the exact time it happened is not important. It has a relationship with the present.

2. Structure:

In the following link you have an explanation of the use and structure of the Present Perfect Simple in Spanish:

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1QJbpGjF6rJ_yfWRduso8hKzQlg_MNgNd/view?usp=sharing

3.  The past participle of verbs (what goes after have or has)

  •  Regular verbs: we add -ed to the verb. Example: play-played
We have to be careful with the changes of some verbs when we add -ed.

  •  Irregular verbs: 3rd column of the list of irregular verbs which you have at the end of your Workbook or in the following link:

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1uD6hVALWPg4avmHfL_3cWUIbFr2ksZYw/view?usp=sharing

4. Time expressions used with the Present Perfect Simple:

And these are the most important aspects about the Present Perfect Simple. I hope that with this explanation you understand this aspect of English Grammar better, and if you don't, you can always comment on this post or send me an email. You also have an explanation of this topic on pages 102 and 103 of your Workbook.

REPORTED SPEECH

Hello my dear students of 4º ESO:

Here you have the explanation of the Reported Speech to be able to do the activities 1, 2, 3 and 4 of page 153 of the Student's Book.

We use reported speech or indirect speech (estilo indirecto en español) to report what other person says.

The most typical activity for this aspect of grammar is to transform a sentence in Direct Speech to another in Reported Speech

Example

He said: “I work in a bank.” (Direct)
He said he worked in a bank. (Reported)

So, when changing a sentence from direct to reported speech we have to pay attention to which elements of the sentences can change:

- Tenses
- Pronouns
- Time and place expressions
- Type of sentence (affirmative, negative, interrogative, order or suggestion)

  • In the following links and images you have more information about the Reported Speech (in English and Spanish 😉)

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1zixmuaWkuhuXoSEP38V_G5uPoVJG8fXW/view?usp=sharing

(This one is a PDF file with the information in Spanish)

  • Here you have another explanation in English:
https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1RZ8Xd2CVJ3V-fqH65c6b0F0CHNq58dMZ?usp=sharing

I hope with this you understand the Reported Speech better, and if you don't you can always comment on this post or write an email to me.You also have an explanation of this topic on pages 102 and 103 of your workbook.

(por ejemplo, Student's Book page 152: exercises 1, 2 and 3)
